Mike's 3 Alarm Chili

The hotness of this chili will depend largely on your preference. I suggest cooking all of the non-spice ingredients first, then adding the chili powder, black and cayenne pepper, cumin and habanero peppers to taste. If you like your chili a little less meaty, you can cut back on the amount of ground turkey or beef.

Ingredients:

3 lbs. ground turkey or beef
2 large green bell peppers
1 red pepper
2 large onions, diced
1 large can of black beans
1 large can of kidney beans
5 cloves garlic, chopped
5 Tablespoons chili powder
2 Tablespoons black pepper
1 Tablespoon cayenne pepper
1 Tablespoon cumin
2 large cans diced tomatoes
1 large can crushed tomatoes
2 habaneros peppers, cut open to release heat
Package of shredded cheddar
1 bag tortilla chips

To make:

Brown the ground meat in a large frying pan. Sautee onion and garlic together in olive oil, then add diced peppers and cook on low until onion is translucent. Drain water/grease from the cooked meat. Combine all ingredients in a large stock pot. Cook on medium-high until bubbling, then lower heat and simmer for about 2 hours.

Serve with a spinkle of shredded cheddar and tortilla chips. Makes about 8-10 servings.
