Marinated London Broil

A lot of people get confused about how to cook London broil. As Google informed me, you do the unthinkable: broil it! Here's a delicious marinade that I cooked up last night and served with sauteed broccoli and brown rice. The longer you marinate the meat, the more tender and flavorful it becomes.

Ingredients:

1 London broil steak
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup vinegar
3 Tablespoons sugar
2 Tablespoons fresh ginger, grated
1 large clove garlic, grated
1/2 cup salad oil

To make:

Combine all ingredients in a glass baking dish. Add meat and baste gently, then cover with Saran wrap and refrigerate. For light flavor, marinate for an hour or two. For more intense Asian flair, let it sit overnight.

To grill: preheat oven to 500 or the Broil setting. (Keep the oven drawer open slightly so you don't set off the fire alarm in your kitchen. Place your London broil in one of those pans that collects the grease. Slide open the bottom drawer and insert pan into oven. Grill for 7 minutes on Side 1, then flip and do the same for Side 2. Let sit for about 10 minutes, then slice thinly on the diagonal. Serve with sauteed broccoli and brown rice. Yum!
