There's just something about homemade that doesn't compare to the store-bought kind in the little tub that's been spun with homogenized oil or some such lubricant. Just grab your chickpeas and get your hummus blender humming! Ingredients:1 can chickpeas, drained 1 clove raw garlic olive oil the juice of half a lemon fresh parsley cayenne pepper Crackers or pita Cooking Implements:Food processor or blender if you don't have one InstructionsCombine all ingredients in the food processor or blender. Drizzle in some olive oil. I always "wing" the amount of oil, so let's say stream some in while counting 3 Mississippis . Whirl everything together in the food processor. If you're using a blender, you may have some trouble getting the mixture to spin properly. If this happens, add a tiny bit of water and use a spoon to nudge the ingredients down closer to the blade, then try again. Disclaimer: the creator of this site is in no way responsible for what may occur while using a blender. We recommend powering down your blender before doing things like using spoons to move ingredients around. Once your hummus becomes a nice spreadable paste, remove from blender and serve with sesame crackers, pita wedges or some other type of edible scooping device. Serves: 2
