Easy Stir Biscuits

Ingredients:

2 cups sifted, all-purpose flour
3 Tablespoons double-acting baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup salad oil
2/3 cup milk

To make:

Preheat oven to 475 degrees.

Sift flour, baking powder and salt into a large mixing bowl and set aside. Combine 2/3 cup milk and 1/3 cup of oil. Do not stir; instead, pour all at once over the flour mixture.

With a fork, combine the mixture to make a soft dough, then transfer to a sheet of wax paper or a pastry board. Knead with your hands 10 times until smooth; do not overwork. Flatten dough to 1/4 or 1/2 inch thick. You can either use a rolling pin or pat with your hands, and a top sheet of wax paper may help but is not necessary. With a biscuit cutter or metal teapot lid, cut out circular rounds and place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes. Makes 12 large biscuits or 18 small ones.
