Brew Your Own Herbal TeaOnce I started buying exotic spices in bulk from Wegman's and growing my own herbs, I realized something rather exciting. I can brew my own herbal tea! Tonight I made myself a tummy soother (an uncharacteristically pungent shallot in my salad got the best of me!) that I'm sipping as we speak. Try some next time you need an herbal tonic to cure what ails ya. Dina's Homemade Herbal Tea Tummy Soother: 2 sage leaves from the herb garden I didn't add any fresh ginger to this potion, although it probably would have been perfect. Perhaps some parsley, too. Pour boiling water over the spice/herb mixture, steep for five minutes and sip slowly. You can also brew up a heady homemade chai using the following: Basic black tea bag (darjeeling and/or orange pekoe is fine) Pour boiling water over this concoction and let it steep for 4-6 minutes. Add regular milk or soymilk and a touch of honey, bring to a quick bubble and then reduce heat, stirring occasionally. Tea-licious.
